3 injured in shooting at Des Moines outreach center

Several Des Moines police officers were injured in Monday’s shooting. The shooting was reported at 12:53 p.m. at Start’s Right Here, a non-profit organization focused on helping at-risk youth. The Outreach Center is located at 455 Southwest 5th St. According to police, three people were injured. Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries. A third person was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police said the injured included two students and a staff member. The ages of the students are not yet known. Twenty minutes after the shooting, police arrested several suspects following a traffic stop about two miles from the scene.
