At least three people are believed to have been seriously injured.
Los Angeles Police Department officers and Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene.
The suspect is believed to be a 30-year-old man who parked his car in the middle of Ventura Blvd and walked directly into the hospital emergency room for medical treatment for anxiety.
Soon, he stabbed several victims.
The LAPD said two nurses and a doctor were injured during the incident.
Those who were stabbed were evacuated from the facility and officers rushed the victims to the trauma center.
“Dignity Health Northridge Hospital Medical Center has admitted three patients to our Level II Trauma Center with stab wounds in the incident at Encino Hospital Medical Center,” a hospital spokesman said. “All three patients are currently listed as stable.”
The suspect is said to have not yet been remanded in custody at the hospital. A SWAT team was on the way.
The hospital is currently in Lockdown and is closed to visitors.
Ventura Blvd is currently closed throughout Encino.
