A dozen people were injured when a vehicle plowed into people in Berwick, Pennsylvania, officials said.
According to NBC’s affiliate WBRE-TVThe crash happened around 6:30 p.m. in a drug strip and injured several people when a driver plowed into a crowd on West 2nd Street in Berwick, Pa.
Geisinger Medical Center in nearby Danville received 13 patients by evening, spokeswoman Natalie Piney said by email. The conditions of the injured were not available.
“As of 8:30 p.m. Saturday, August 13, Keisinger is treating 13 patients from an incident in Berwick. Staff evaluates and triages patients for appropriate care,” Keisinger’s spokeswoman Natalie Piney wrote in a statement.
In a Facebook post, the restaurant where the fundraiser was held, Drugstore, said it would be closing its doors until further notice.
“Today is an absolute tragedy. We will be closed until further notice. Please respect our privacy while we grieve and try to process the events that have transpired. Thank you,” Written by the restaurant.
Police said the car rammed into the crowd while attending a benefit event for victims A Nescoke house fire killed seven adults and three children last week.
Seven adults and three children aged 5, 6 and 7 were among those killed in the fire.
There is no word yet on what caused the crash or the conditions of the victims in Berwick.
