It was another blockbuster year for video games as AAA exclusives and indie darlings raised the bar for quality. From lush remakes to astonishing original titles, the PlayStation library grew this year with the addition of these titles, and we’ve rounded up the best of the best according to critical numbers gathered from GameSpot’s sister site Metacritic.
2022 is bookended by two of Sony’s strongest console-exclusive games, Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok, while the intervening months have seen a massive shift to the release of older first-party games on PC. With Nixxes at the helm, PC players were able to get their hands on Spider-Man, God of War, and the Uncharted games that were enhanced in that setting.
Rounding out the list of new releases is a robust selection of third-party games covering a wide variety of genres and themes. Some are wonderfully different, others are revamped, and we’ve seen some fantastic retro collections launch this year.
